Pt Lobos Reflections

This was a plein air painting completed during the summer of 2016 in the Pt Lobos State Reserve on the California coast south of Carmel.  It was late morning and I was trying to capture the sun reflecting off the water in a bright yellow and the crashing surf against the shoreline rocks.  I tried doing this many times while trying to preserve my vision in looking into the suns reflections on the water!  Very difficult to do with natures dynamic light!  I’ve noted in other Plein air paintings with the sun in front of you, you need to stand to one or the other side and use the easel to deflect the sun!
