Cypress by the Sea

This is a plein air study done during the late summer in Point Lobos State Reserve.  The view is of the Carmel coastline through the cypress trees and rocky coast from a trail that leads west into the reserve from the Whalers Cove parking lot.  I am planning to do a large studio painting from this study during 2017.  I love the simple color, values  and structure of this view!  This was painted during the late morning with the sun streaming through the Cypress trees onto the rocks beyond.
