At The Tree Line

This is a studio painting done from sketches and digital images completed in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California. It was near Lake Ediza, a favorite painting location of Edgar Alvin Paine, high in the Sierras near the tree line.  Myself and two other painters hiked into the mountains from a meadow below the Devils Post Pile near Mammoth, California.  We had packers who brought supplies and some of our gear to our camp near Lake Ediza.  One day on the four day trip I hiked with a known hiker up to the tree line to Iceberg Lake right at the tree line.  I painted a small plein air painting and sketched and took a few digital images of the beautiful scenery'  When I got home I painted several paintings of the lake and its surroundings.  This is one of those paintings.
