Double Beauty

This studio painting was created from a plein air study near Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park.  The painting depicts Nevada and Vernal falls in the view, Nevada being the upper fall.  This is about the only location in the park where both of the falls are visible at the same time.  I've viewed this scene for years in my many trekes through Yosemite and vowed to myself to paint the view some day.  This painting was accepted into the 2011 National Paint The Parks Top 100 Competition.
