American River First Light

This is a large studio painting created from a plein air study and digital images taken just before the plein air study was painted one morning along the American River in Lotus, CA.  The scene was both tranquil and captivating as the first light of the morning crept over the foothills and sprayed some of the early fall color with bright light!  The light color of the water was also amazing.  Some probably would like the study better in that the light on the water is more subdued but this bright light in the water just before I started the study is what made me do a larger studio painting.
